"I Hate Mondays....."

Lovely weather we're having, eh? It's raining buckets and not expected to get any better any time soon. Sorry for not posting over the weekend. It was the holiday weekend, so like most of you, I took a break. Every once in awhile it's good to step back and take a deep breath. But now i'm back and ready to titilate you with my wit and prose.

First things first. Sam Adams mysteriously disappeared over the weekend. Not sure how it happened nor when it happened, but the last time I saw our favorite cut-out cardboard cad was sometime Friday night; he was engaged in a body surf over a group of drunken Staten Islanders, celebrating the birthday of our own Nardo, the Thursday night bartender. I can't confirm whether or not Sammy A. left the building the same time the party did..... i'm just sayin' he mysteriously disappeared, that's all.

Speaking of missing persons, I haven't seen our favorite patron, Madame X in a few days. I actually thought she may have left us for good....until I saw her heading towards Excel News a couple of minutes ago. I guess she's live and well. Our friend at Excel News, Musheer said that she's laughing a lot more than usual. He thinks she might be off her meds.....I wonder how he knows about that?

Celebrity Death Pool update: As many of you know, a group of us are involved in a Death Pool. We each "drafted" ten "celebrities" (people who are in the news, whether they are celebs, athletes, politicians, world figures, etc.) and each month we contribute a fixed amount into a pot. We do this each month until someone on our list gets "knocked off". That person wins the pot and we then ante up again. I bring up the pool because we have an intriguing watch taking place as we speak; Right now it's neck and neck between the Pope (the perennial contender) and Prince Rainier of Monaco...both hanging on by their fingertips. Of course, I'm still stuck with the healthiest elderly around, Jack LaLane, who at last glance, was scoring table dances at Scores at the age of 105.....

Business is up the last couple of weeks, which is a positive sign that Spring has arrived and we are finally through the doldrums of winter. The period between the Super Bowl and St. Patrick's Day is generally the slowest time of the year for the bar business. You can expect to see a lot of new promotions throughout the upcoming weeks. Always good for the patrons and usually fun for us too. Speaking of which, this Wednesday we have live music at Third & Long as well as $3.00 Heineken, Amstel Light and PBR's!

PERSONAL PROJECT OF THE WEEK: Take my ass to the Container Store and get storage bins. I am sick of looking at cardboard boxes in mi casa; it reminds me of the homeless.

That's it for now; Enjoy the week and i'll be back soon with an update!

No worries about the Pope and Prince Rainier. They'll be fine. However, Ruben Studdard is going to make me rich in this Death Pool. It's going to be an extra $20 from everybody since he's my under-35 pick. I feel it coming on.
