Sorry for taking so long to update the blog- duty calls. It's such an unexpectedly beautiful day that I couldn't help but to take my time while running errands to take in the spring-like weather. It makes me want Spring to arrive that much sooner. So i'll make this quick so that I can go back outside.

The past weekend was a pretty busy one at Third & Long. A lot of fun for the customers and a lot of good stuff to observe for yours truly. It started out with a pretty wicked Happy Hour. There was no specific reasons or special events planned for that night; simply a lot of people getting together and having a good time. I met a group of girls who were getting together that weekend for a "mini-reunion". They all attended college together and started a ritual of getting together once a year for a weekend of bonding and having fun. NYC is the central location for all of the girls, most of them living either in Boston or in the D.C. area. The girls wanted to go to a place where they could sit and talk and have a good time without being bothered by drunken idiots; Our place pretty much fit the bill (although there were a couple of instances where a drunken idiot or two made their way to their table)- in any case, they had a good time and promised to stop by again next year!

Then there was our favorite customer, Madame X. I posted a couple of audio clips to describe what happened w/her, so there's no need to rehash it here; Let's just say that she continues to intrigue me with each passing day.

Saturday Night was another good night at the bar. We got a lot of overflow of "slightly buzzed" people who were returning from the Hoboken St. Patrick's Day Parade. It's always a bit dicey when you are dealing with other people's drunks; however, aside from a few isolated incidents, everything was pretty much okay. I did happen to notice our friend, yet again, hooking up w/another "unsuspecting" lad (see Saturday night audio clip)...priceless stuff.

Sunday was rather mellow in every sense of the word. Mellow in the bar, the restaurants and lounges in the neighborhood were pretty quiet as well. I felt like it was a holiday. No one seemed to be around. I got a group of three people late night Sunday who were pretty entertaining. It turns out that one couple who are in the middle of a divorce were out drinking with the groom's brother. These people had me in stitches all night with their life experiences. The couple got along so well, you'd never thought they were married, let alone getting a divorce. The mesh so well, like best friends. Ironically, that was the reason for the divorce-better off as friends. I respect that, especially in light of the fact that they are able to remiain friends...cool stuff.

It's Day 9 of the Rockstar Porter World Tour. It seems that our man has finally managed to make his way out of Pennsylvania. He came across a body of water and equating water with "escape to freedom", he traded his Volkswagon Bus (along with a couple of chickens and a six-pack of Tecante) for a retrofitted bar(boatcar) and set it afloat down the banks of the Chesapeake Bay. He figured this would help make up lost time in PA; and he could also get out of paying the toll to cross the bridge. Of course with his sense of direction being a bit "off", instead of heading westward as originally planned, his route choice sent him south. Where will he end up next? Only god knows....

Tonite should be a good night-Dollar drafts, nice weather....hmmmm...the possibilities are endless. Keep in mind that the Big East Tournament starts on Wednesday, so if you are looking for a get-together place for the week, stop by the bar; We will have all of the Championship Week games on 6 TV's (including the BIG SCREEN!) I'll update again later in the day. Gotta run! Keep the feedback coming!

what a tough weekend... a table full of women and a very cool non-bitter couple and madame x luring men into her trap as always.

glad you're enjoying the sun.
