WORD OF THE DAY: scintilla \sin-TIL-uh\, noun:
A tiny or scarcely detectable amount; the slightest particle; a trace; a spark.

There was never a scintilla of doubt, or a hint of equivocation, in the SwanFather about his commitment to getting the Mets back on TV for its faithful patrons.

I know that I mentioned the news about us finally getting Mets telecasts over the weekend, but I can't help but to bring up the fact that i've gotten nothing but great feedback from locals who are excited about the fact that they can now watch Mets games without paying $7 for a beer. That reason alone was worth the effort. So enjoy it and good luck to your team this season.

As far as seasons go, take a good look at some members of our Softball team. The bar has sponsored these guys in flag football in the past and now we continue our support w/a softball team this summer. Hopefully they will continue their winning ways and bring our brand name to the top of the league. Good luck boys!

DEATH POOL UPDATE: The Dead Pool claimed another victim over the weekend as Sir John Mills left us at the ripe old age of 97. He was an academy-award winning British actor and also the father of Haley Mills (remember the original "Parent Trap", back in the day?). The lucky holder of Sir John Mills was the one and only Daddy Rich, the original Mayor of Murray Hill and neighborhood pimp(one of the lunchtime regulars), who ended up claiming a whopping $220 for his lucky strike.

The weekend was a bit quieter than normal in Murray Hill, due in large part to the celebration of Passover and the torrential rainfall on Saturday night. Sunday produced no big shakes, although I did get a nice visit from a lovely young lady that I hadn't seen in awhile. Made the evening go by rather nicely. Other than that, no juicy scoops to report; but there's always tonite. One never knows what will happen when Dollar Draft night takes place.
