"MMMMM..GOOD!"
That's the headline plastered over all of the sports pages this morning. While the title refers to the U.S. Open winner, for me personally, it reflects how I feel today.
I got to do a lot of relaxing over the weekend, having both Saturday and Sunday off. This is a rare occurance for yours truly, so you would think that I would have jet-setted off to St. Tropez or some exotic place. Alas, no. I caught up on some staffing paperwork on Saturday, took a nap, met a couple of long lost friends for coffee and basically took it easy on Saturday. Sunday was much like Saturday; Got up early to do some laundry, did some more paperwork, caught a bit of NASCAR racing (yes, i'm hooked) and watched some movies on Sunday night. It was basically a kick back and chill weekend. My contact w/the public was minimal, which is good for me every once in a while. I have to say it was a very relaxing weekend....
As for updates, since I pretty much had the weekend off, I really don't have much to report. Friday night was your typical weekend Summer evening; The bar itself actually did well, considering that it wasn't overly packed at any point in the evening. It was pretty steady the whole night, peppered with B & T types and tourists. A couple of highlights: The wannabe-MILF from Florida who seemed to think she was 23 while her body was screaming 43; she spent half of the night trying to pitch ideas for a hair show in the bar (she's a hair stylist apparently), while at the same time, trying to audition for "Dance Fever". (See enclosed pic) Talk about surreal.
The other highlight was a doozy; one for which I must apologize in advance for not being prepared to visually document. At the end of the night, the staff and I were in the process of breaking down for the night. My bartenders were in the Champagne room, counting out tips while myself and the barback were behind the bar. I was in the process of doing some paperwork when my barback yelled out "HOLY SHIT, LOOK OUTSIDE!". I looked up and there was this tall, thin blonde woman, standing in the street. She was about 6 feet tall with white stiletto pumps....a black bra and a very sheer, see-through "daisy dukes-type" panties on...that's it. Two guys were engaged in a conversation with her while she was trying to hail a cab; the gypsy contingent (The morons from down the street that I hate so much) were spilling out of their van with their mouths open, apparently just as stunned as I to witness the turn of events. I immediately walked outside to see what the scoop was. By the time I remembered to pull out my camera to take a photo, she'd already jumped into a cab and sped off. The whole thing took about two minutes but it was indeed a bizarre two minutes at that. You just don't see that type of thing in Murray Hill....
In any case, that was about it. As for this week, it's back to the grind for the staff of Third and Long. Look out for some cool new promotions in the very near future. Should be fun. And Nurses Night is fast approaching, so plan accordingly! As for tonite: DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS is upon us!
