THE DEATH OF THE DEAD POOL?

Some of the regulars and I have been involved in a "Dead Pool" for almost a year. For those of you who are out of the loop, a "Dead Pool" is a contest where each person "drafts" a list of famous people (could be an athlete, celebrity, politician, someone that's in the news), and then wait to see if they die within a certain period of time. Now this may sound a bit morbid, but it is a rather popular game in our society. Each month, the members of the pool contributes $20 to the pot and the pot will continue to grow until a celebrity dies. If that particular person is on your list, you win the pot and we start a new pot. We've had people win as much as $500 on this type of pool and to be honest, if nothing else, it forces you to read the papers and watch CNN every day. There will be times where no one will hit for months on end and then BOOM! Back to back hits all at once. That was the case this weekend when Sir Edward Heath (ex British PM) and Gen. Westmorland passed away within days of each other. Now there's been talk of "retiring" the pool as it has become a pain in the butt to maintain.... We'll see what the masses decide...I personally would like to keep it going because I swear, Jack LaLane has to go sooner or later..

Monday night featured the appearance of our new Monday night bartender REDBULLDIVA... My moles tell me that she was a hit with the crowd as she was very good behind the stick and engaging with the customers (both male and female), which is always a plus. I know that some of our female customers get a bit irate when they feel neglected by a female bartender, and that's something I'm working on with our staff.

I have to keep things short today as it's Tuesday, which means double duty day. I also have a bunch of nurses coming in to entertain me this afternoon...holla! It's pretty hot and sticky, so remember to keep it cool. DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS continues tonite!

It would be a shame to see our pool ended.

I miss Mike the day bartender. He was the best bartender ever! He should be in the 3 and L hall of fame.
