SURPRISE, SURPRISE!

Last night was an interesting Tuesday night. We had more customers than normal for Dollar Draft Madness, partly due to the fact that at this time of the year, the interns are wrapping up their summer placements and getting ready to go back to college. So you will see your fair share of sendoffs and farewells, often sponsored by the companies themselves. Last night was no exception; the number of young striped shirt junior-junior executive wannabes staggered about the bar, toasting each other with cries of "VICTORY RULES!" and "THUNDERCATS!, while swigging down cheap mugs of Bud Light. So between that and the countless number of underaged kids trying to sneak in with obviously bad ID's made my night an active one, to say the least.

While the night itself didn't really produce anything out of the ordinary, I did find myself being surprised by a stranger. Or so I thought at first. Toward the end of the night I was talking with P. DIDDY (bartender extrodinaire) when a young lady walked up to me. She said hello and I said hi. She asked if I remembered her and I said that she looked familiar, a line that I often use to buy some time to figure out whether or not I actually recognized someone. Now I am usually horrible with names but very good with faces; and in this case, I really felt that this person looked familiar, yet I couldn't place where i'd seen her before. So we played a cat/mouse game of "Where do I know you from" for a bit, until I, for some reason, started reciting a phone number in the hopes that it was her. She of course, totally busted me on it. We both got a good laugh and then she finally revealed who she was...... blog regular LE SYNGE BLEU! She was a lot like I expected; very energetic, witty, feisty and definately fun to talk to. She was pretty nice looking too, in an exotic sort of way. Really nice eyes. I thought that there would be an awkwardness to our meeting, seeing that we really only knew of each other through our respective blogs; but we hit it off right away, as if we were long-time friends. We chatted at length for quite awhile and even enjoyed a few funny moments when a drunk frat-boy tried to hit on her while I was attending to some bar business. You should have seen his face when she told him that she was saving a seat for me. It was comical. We conversed pretty much up until closing time, at which point she bid us adieu and went off into the Manhattan night. I get the feeling that we hit it off pretty good. She's pretty cool.

Tonight is IPOD NIGHT; If you have an IPOD and you want to share your playlist with your fellow customers, simply sign up w/the bartender for a time slot and let the music rip! First come, first serve. There will also be $3 Heineken and Amstel Light for everyone, and $5 mixed well drinks for the ladies all night long! There will also be special guest bartenders during the 5-7pm Happy Hour shift: our own MR. TANQUERAY and THE MAYOR will join MASTER THESPIAN behind the stick. So if you are in the neighborhood and are curious about them, feel free to stop by and join us for a drink! All are welcome!

okay, i confess...i paid swandad to write nice things about me.

really i came in the bar and proceeded to get into 5 separate bar brawls, as dictated by the official femi-nazi rules and regulations book (damn! i forgot to wear the combat boots...they're certain to kick me out now!)

and i actually have no eyes - i was born without them. but i drew some on last night with a sharpie...thanks for pretending not to notice.
