A BEAUTIFUL, YET BLAH HOLIDAY COMES TO AN END....

It's late Sunday night/Monday morning and I am posting now so that I won't forget on Monday. It has been a beautifully blissful, serene holiday weekend in Murray Hill. Aside from being bombarded with the horrific images of the tragedy in the Gulf Coast, it has been a lazy and quiet weekend on "The Hill". The streets themselves have been pretty much deserted during the day, and lightly populated in the evening as the tourists in for the last dash shopping are walking around aimlessly, seeking any form of entertainment at their disposal.

Saturday Night was a totally different scene from Friday, in that there was practically no nightlife to speak of. The staff and myself kept ourselves entertained throughout most of the evening, until we finally started to see signs of life on the Avenue towards midnight.

As you can tell by the look on TEACHER'S PET's face, there wasn't much excitement to be had on this particular night. But hey, they say you have to take the good with the bad, right? All told, there wasn't much to report, as there wasn't much to see. We got a quickie visit from THE LADY IN BLACK and her sexy sidekick as they popped in to see what was happening at the bar.

These girls were desperately looking for some form of entertainment, but alas, they didn't find what they were looking for in Murray Hill.

THE "WTF WAS THAT???" RANT OF THE WEEK: KANYE WEST's tirade during the NBC Hurricane Katrina benefit on Friday night. I know his heart was in the right place, but......WTF? And did you see MIKE MYERS' face while this was going on? Priceless.

Today is Labor Day. On tap is Dollar Draft Madness (some things will never change). There is also a street fair on tap for 3rd Avenue (from East 34th St to East 42nd Street), so there will be a lot of foot traffic all day long. So after you stuff your faces with pork sausages, gyros, smoothies and such, stop by and catch yours truly at the bar for a couple of dollar mugs. I sure as hell would be glad to see some familar faces, that's for sure!

Enjoy the day!
