Friday night was an interesting night in that we had three events taking place: The first being THE GUINNESS IRISH LIFT, where we attempted to pour 100 first-pour pints in a three-hour period; We ended up serving 75 first-pours pints of GUINNESS, a fine first attempt. We also raffled off a rather nifty CALLOWAY PUTTER, which was won by a pretty cute, but clueless blonde.
There was also a party for W.B. MASON's basketball team, a team that we sponsor in a corporate basketball league. These guys are pretty hardcore, both on and off the court. They are a lively bunch and only added to the festivities of the evening. By the way, I had to take a picture of the most obnoxious-looking boots i've ever seen.....
Then there was the party for the ST. FRANCIS COLLEGE WATER POLO TEAM. They recently won a berth in the NCAA Final Four and were at the bar to celebrate. I know it sounds odd that a college in NYC would actually have a water polo team, let alone make it to the Final Four, but it's true. Now when these guys and their groupies arrived for the celebration, the evening took a "euroclub" turn, with shades of techno, chanting, singing, a hint of B.O. from some of the ladies, and a lot of drinking, drinking and drinking. The mood was definitely on the festive side and the ladies were for the most part, pretty hot. They ended up closing out the bar and at the end of the night, my staff and I were pretty whipped. We went through a lot of alcohol, but overall, a good night.
