IT'S OFFICIAL...

We've finally hit the winter doldrums. While we've been largely spared of the mounds of snow that comes with this time of year, it is definitely "doldrums" time. How can you tell, you ask? When you step outside in the evenings and the streets are largely deserted, both weeknight as well as the weekends. Quiet as a church mouse. Everyone seems to be rushing home and staying in where it's warm. Budgeting their hard spent money to pay for all that celebrating over the holidays. It happens every year at around this time. So what do you do? Grin and bear it. It's a cyclical thing.

MS. KREMLIN UPDATE

Last night I was in the middle of running errands when I ran into my boy, BIG A. at EXCEL NEWS. BIG A. is the doorman at JOSHUA TREE and like myself, he sees a lot of crazy shit. So he pulls me to the side and asks me: "So what do you know about this crazy Russian chick that moved into the neighborhood?" I started chuckling and basically said that I didn't know much about her, but agreed that she was nuts. He started telling me that she has a reputation for stirring up trouble everywhere she goes because she's feisty and most people (read: guys) don't know how to handle her. He also mentioned something about some guy looking for her the night before; an older, clean-cut looking fella with a large envelope. The guy was asking all kinds of questions and such, trying to find her. BIG A. said that he played dumb, but figured that he must have been some type of lawyer or something. I said maybe he was with the "mob" or something and we both got a laugh out of that. So, it has been confirmed: All of Murray Hill knows that this girl is nuts.

I want to again thank those individuals for dropping off clothing donations for my friend who was involved in an apartment fire last week. I will be seeing her in the next day or so to give her the items that we collected. I am sure she will be pleasantly surprised at the outpouring of support from my Third and Long family. If you haven't had a chance to drop off any items of clothing you don't need, please do so soon. As I mentioned before, she needs essential items like blankets, sheets, socks, pants (size 6), shirts (medium) sweats (med/lg.). etc... Thanks again!
