BLOOD DRIVE UPDATE

This is an update from the blood drive coordinator, TERRY BRENNAN:

"Hey all, we have about half of the appointment slots full at Turtle Bay for this Saturday but we want to fill the rest up today and see if we can get another mobile unit there on Sat. Make the push to those lazy friends or if you already have signed on, think of a partner to give with you. I attached the fliers again for your info. Third and Long also needs to continue filling up the appointments (212.447.5711). Please, please, please take a few minutes today to recruit someone else to take a few minutes on Saturday, so that an entire life may be saved or aided. Remember that the NYC blood bank uses over 2,000 pints of blood a day. Even if what we are planning gets done and is successful beyond our imagination, somewhere else in this city, there needs to be around 1,700 other selfless donors to even break even for THE DAY, in NYC. Another pretty crazy thought huh? So far 480+ people have donated in Matt's name (FDNY donor number 43369). Pretty cool!

Matt is still in critical and still making steps in the right direction. He still can not take visitors and will be in ICU for a while yet. He is healing himself and it looks like a combo of all of your prayers and his body of steel along with his heart of gold are good medicine. Keep on praying for him. Hopefully on Saturday evening he may see this blood drive on the news as the press are very aware of it. That would be nice I think.

Even if you can't give, come by as a show of support. We will see you Saturday and since we only have a few days left give a big push for Matt's sake. I think all of you are confident that Matty would do it for you and yours."

Last night was a pretty busy night at Third and Long.
There was a rather large contingent from the advertising company OMD. They are semi-regulars to the bar and whenever they come by, they play HARD! A fun and outgoing bunch, they are definitely entertaining, that's for sure. The MASTER THESPIAN filled in for H.B.E behind the bar and he was great. We also had the return of our stellar barback, THE RUNNING MAN, fresh off of his trip to Australia. He entertained me with stories from the trip, pretty funny stuff. In all, a pretty good night.

Tonight is MOLSON HOCKEY NIGHT with $3 MOLSON CANADIAN drafts, MOLSON TRIPLE X bottles, COORS LIGHT and BLUE MOON (draft and bottles) from 6-10pm; We also have $4 mixed well drinks for the ladies ALL NIGHT LONG!
