Hey Everybody,
Matt is still getting settled in to the new location and schedule. It, for lack of a better word is a grueling daily grind for him, and tires him out as well as gives him some new aches and pains. The center is impressively nice and comfortable with honey stained hardwood floors and a very homey, warm feel to it. Not clinical at all.
Like I said the transition period is a tough one so we as his friends have to be patient and careful in regards to contacting him. I think he needs at least another couple of weeks. Matt, (as well as his family and specialists) are requesting that people do not come and see him at this time. He needs his rest and needs to curtail the feeling of obligation when people stop by. You know him, he is trying to please everyone else while it is just making him more tired. Dropping cards off in the mail or to people like myself, work much better for him right now.
Please also keep in mind that the phone in the rehab center should only be used for emergencies and if you have the number, there is a good possibility that you should not have it. It is an outgoing call basis type of thing. Remember too, that he is occupied with therapy from morning to evening with no time during the daytime for any access. Let's just let him get situated and comfortable there, which will take some time. He needs peace and quiet while his mind resets after the occupational therapy and his body revitalizes itself after the physical therapy.
Matt's spirits are good and he is making progress, so he, his family, and all of us must be doing something right. Thanks for the support and keep it coming.
Terry Brennan
