MONTEZUMA'S REVENGE 1, SWANFATHER 0....
This morning I found myself making several trips to the porcelain office to battle an impromptu bout of Montezuma's Revenge. It started coming on last night while I was at the bar; at first I thought it was a bad case of digestion (probably from the bad Chinese food I had earlier in the day). However, as the night went on and my stomach started churning in knots, I knew that I was due for a rough patch and rough patch it is. Thus far, after about six trips to the "office", a lot of sweating and dehydration, I basically feel like shit (excuse the pun). Hopefully whatever I have will run its course today so that I can be back on track asap. Nothing's worse than being sick on your day off. At least I have the ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW Marathon to fall back on.
Last night was probably one of the coldest nights in a long while, and it affected the street traffic on 3rd Avenue. Not much going on by way of people strolling up and down the block; wherever people ended up, that's pretty much where they stayed. Cigarette breaks were very short, as evidenced by the half-smoked cigarettes littered on the ground. In the bar, most of the customers stayed towards the back of the bar, mostly to avoid the biting drafty breeze blowing near the doorway.
Happy Hour was pretty busy, enhanced by the lively group of revelers from W.B. MASON. They were there to say goodbye to one of their co-workers, who was getting a transfer to another location. We also had another group of people who were doing the "pre-game" thing before attending the SAW DOCTORS concert (or I think it was the SAW DOCTORS) at IRVING PLAZA. There were also a large number of tourists, in town to do some shopping, over from Europe (Mostly Ireland and England, with a smattering of Swiss in between). I also got a surprise visit from a couple of former students, one in particular I hadn't seen in many years. Ironically enough, I was just thinking about her a couple weeks ago, wondering how she was doing. We chatted up a storm and she caught me up on the whereabouts of some of her former classmates; It was really good to see her again. My other former student is now a NYC policeman; it seems to me that more and more of them are turning to the civil service route. He seems pretty happy with it, so god bless him. In any case, it was really good to see the both of them.
Other than that, the night itself was void of dramatic moments; just a typical night in a typical place.
Gotta print up the OSCAR POOL SHEETS for tomorrow. I'll check in later!

Swanny, why don't you throw out some props for OVERNIGHT BAKER for coming in the money on the Chili cook-off. DIRTY SANCHEZ'S entry was misunderstood by the northern yankee judges!
