I'd just heard the news about KIRBY PUCKETT's untimely death and I am absolutely stunned by it. Back in my college days, K.P. was one of my favorite players. A good buddy and college classmate of mine played with him during his heyday with the MINNESOTA TWINS, and I had the opportunity to meet him. He seemed like a nice enough guy, but what I really liked about him was that fact that even though he didn't look like your typical baseball player, (as a matter of fact, to say he looked like a pudgy old bulldog would be pretty accurate) the man could hit with the best of them.
In any case, the fact that this guy had a stroke at the age of 44, well, that's a wake-up call if I ever heard one. From what I could gather, at the time of his death, he was 5' 8" tall, but he had let himself gain up to almost 400 lbs. It's a shame because he was well-liked in the baseball world; he was engaged to be married this summer; It seemed like he had everything going for him aside from his health, and everyone around him had been pleading with him to do something about it. Who knows what the reasoning was behind his lack of motivation? I know that it isn't easy to change years of bad habits, hell, I can answer that firsthand. But it is still a shame to see someone with so much talent and so much going for him die at such an early age. I can tell you one thing for sure, it sure woke my ass up. I have friends that have been urging me to take better care of myself and i'm trying to work my way up that "ladder of change". If I ever needed to have any kind of motivation, this certainly was it.

So, while I was surfing around the net, looking for more info about KIRBY's untimely passing, I came across an amusing, yet strange story about YANNI. You know him; He's the New Age Guru who plays that sappy music that you hear in elevators and dentist's office. So when you hear his name, you can't help but to think peaceful and soft thoughts. Imagine my surprise when I read an article about him beating up his girlfriend! What is this world coming to? When YANNI gets arrested for domestic assault, it's the Apocalypse as we know it. So rumor has it that MADAME X was feeling a bit amourous last night, making a beeline towards some of our staff, even attempting to make out with a few of our bartenders. I guess she was feeling the love. Bless her heart.
