Looking for an APARTMENT?

They say Murray Hill is the next big thing as far as real estate goes. I'm not quite sure how accurate that assesment is, but if I had to do an unscientific study on the number of people who ask me about the quality of life in the neighborhood, I would have to say that it's pretty high. Quite often I will come across someone or a couple who happened to be walking through the neighborhood and they will inquire about the rents of the various apartments and such. I've also documented on numerous occasions about the massive influx of young people moving into the neighborhood. In any case, for better or worse, Murray Hill is indeed... HOT!

That being said, on any given day I will get an email or get asked directly whether or not I know of an apartment vacancy in the neighborhood. Sometimes I will hear of an opening or vacancy from one of the patrons who is either moving out of their apartment, or have heard of something in their building. If you are looking to move into Murray Hill, you might want to reach out to TY at AVENTANA Real Estate. He's a respected patron of the bar and has helped find apartments for young people in the Murray Hill area for a few years now. Tell him that I sent ya and he'll take care of you! (his direct email is: ty@aventana.com)

If you are the type that rather do the legwork yourself, then there's the old standby, CRAIGSLIST. They have a pretty extensive list of apartment listings. However, beware that many of the ads posted are fakes from unscrupulous R.E. agents or building owners who often use the old "bait-and-switch" routine to lure you to their listings. And even worse, almost all of the ads turn out to be nothing close to what the description says. Don't get me wrong- you can find a gem of an apartment, if you dig hard enough. But be prepared to spend a lot of time digging and have a lot of patience because you will find a lot of frustration. In any case, good luck with your search!

Now that i've provided my PSA for the day, it's time to enjoy the weekend! Happy Easter!
