WHAT A WEEKEND....

After a historic victory by OHIO STATE over MICHIGAN, it was difficult to top the excitement that came along with such a game. Nevertheless, I still had high hopes with Sunday afternoon and yet another classic rivalry game between PITTSBURGH and "America's Team", CLEVELAND, Maybe, just maybe, lightning would strike twice and bring yours truly happiness and joy two days in a row. I knew this would be a tall order, especially with STEELER NATION led by it's feisty little general, NAPOLEON DYNAMITE breathing down my neck. As the only fan of "America's Team", it was up to me to hold them in check, at least until my team could earn a hard fought victory. I even got some support from a lot of the patrons (i.e. non-Steeler fans) as we got into a huge cheering match with each other at the end of the game. But it was all for naught as the PITTSBURGH STEELERS found a way to claw their way to a comeback victory. Oh well, such is life.

The afternoon itself was a bit more subdued than normal, mostly due to the "hangover effect" of Saturday's epic match. Those who actually made it for the weekly soiree made the most of the afternoon and had a good time.

It was also a day of reunions as I ran into a few people from the past; a college buddy of mine stopped in to say hello and to knock back a few cold ones; and a couple of former patrons (and Minnesota Vikings' fans) who used to live in the neighborhood decided to stop by after a meal next door at JACKSON HOLE. It was pretty cool to see them and we got to reminisce over fun times past. Good stuff.

The evening also brought our usual contingent of tourists, looking for a place to unwind and chat. This time the tourists were from England and Estonia. The group from Estonia were pretty lively and funny to listen to as they gabbed about all types of strange topics. I especially enjoyed my conversation with the two ladies from England as they were interesting to talk to; It also helped that they were supporters of NEWCASTLE UNITED, my personal favorite soccer team over in England. They especially liked the bar and how comfortable they felt being there.
