AN INTERESTING AFTERNOON.....

I spent yesterday covering the day shift for the bar, which wasn't too bad considering I'd just worked the night shift managing the bar and working the door. While my feet were swollen from being on them for so long, there were a lot of little things going throughout the day that helped take my mind off of it. For example:

Me and my trusty Mexican porter NACHO LIBRE got to take down the Halloween decorations. I was particularly excited about that because if I had to sit through one more day of getting tangled up in fake cobwebs, I was going to scream.

My buddies from EXCEL NEWS finally fingered the kids who had been terrorizing the shops in the neighborhood during the past few days. They were a couple of kids from the local high school around the corner; these kids thought it would be "cool" to hit these shops and tear up their inventory and make life miserable for the shopkeepers. I had encouraged the guys from EXCEL NEWS to go to the police- they were leery at first because they didn't want to face repercussion from the kids. But I convinced them that if they didn't stand up to these punks, that things would only get worse. They finally got the courage to follow through and eventually able to identify the thugs and as a result, those punks got arrested. It turns out that these kids had wrecked havoc over at least six other shops in the neighborhood.

I met a couple of burly guys, visiting from Ireland. They came in around 3pm, looking for directions to Ground Zero. 5 hours later, they were still at the bar, enjoying beers and the company of the regulars of the bar. Very nice guys who are in the process of traveling around the world. It must be nice to have time available to travel extensively. Great storytellers too. They are in town until Saturday and I expect we'll see them again before they leave. You can't miss 'em because they are HUGE guys, but very funny and nice as all hell.

LADIES NIGHT, I suspect, is starting to gain some momentum (or at least based on what I saw the last few Wednesdays). By the time my shift ended, there were quite a few ladies in the bar, chatting with each other, enjoying cocktails and simply having a relaxing time. Even DIRTY SANCHEZ was making some power moves on one of them.... not bad, even if she was connected with the dreaded ECUADORIAN lot. LOL!

So while my Wednesday wasn't the gang-busting day I would have liked, it was definitely interesting, to say the least.

"LITE NITE THURSDAYS" ($4.00, all LIGHT beers, bottles & drafts).
