FANS OF THE COLBERT REPORT TAKE NOTE!

There will be a live taping of THE COLBERT REPORT (Comedy Central) today (Wednesday, December 6, 2006) at 6pm. If you want to be a part of the TV taping, be at the bar between 5:30pm-6pm.

As always, there will be drink specials for all ($2.00 Mixed Well Drinks for ladies, $4.00 Amstel Light, Blue Moon Ale and Coors Light for all).

As for last night, it was easily the coldest night of the year. Lucky for us, we finally got the heating system up and running properly and not a moment too soon. The cold weather, however, seemed to send most folks rushing home to warm quarters as the Avenue was pretty beat. Those who did brave the elements enjoyed the heated bar and casual conversation over dollar drafts. There were a lot of females in attendance (which is what I like to see) and the number of numbnuts in attendance was minimal, at best.

I got to meet with the MAYOR OF MURRAY HILL, who was back from a nice vacation in BARBADOS, and his tanned skin illustrated the point. He shared some funny stories from the trip with me and with the temps dipping below freezing levels, it made me want to be there. Lucky bastard.

There also seems to be a bit of a buzz about the upcoming Staff Christmas Party; It's easily the best party of the year and it's the most-talked about affair for weeks afterwards. Everyone who's been there in years past is eagerly looking forward to this year's soiree. Should be a good time.

And what is it about cold weather that cause drunk folks to dance all over the sidewalk? At one point during the night, the staff and I looked out the window and noticed this rather drunk Mexican guy, hanging out by a phone booth and drinking a beer out of a bottle and doing his best M.C. HAMMER impersonation. This went on for at least half an hour, until he finished his beer. Suddenly realizing that he had nothing left to do, he disappeared up 3rd Avenue.... for a moment at least. He later tried to moonwalk his way into the bar, only to be stopped by me. Drunken idiot.


In the meantime, we are in the process of preparing for NEW YEAR'S EVE. There have been inquiries about that night but as of right now, we haven't firmed up plans just yet. If anyone is interested in doing something with the bar, now is the time to book it. Call the bar (212).447.5711 for details.
