Follow the daily interactions of an affable bar manager of pretty cool and not-so-typical watering hole in NYC, in a not-so-typical neighborhood, Murray Hill. There may be some blurbs overheard at the bar, stimulating observations and random thoughts on random things. So be careful, you never know what might end up here....Enjoy and welcome to my world!

MUST BE SOMETHING IN THE CORNFIELDS...
Last night was the Annual Miss America Pageant. In years past, folks used to flock to their TV sets and watch this spectacle of T & A (myself included), waiting with baited breath to see if the woman from their home state would take home the tiara and the title of "hottest chick in the U.S.A.".
However, it seems that until recently (thanks to the booze-induced scandals involving Miss USA TARA CONNER and a couple of other party animals), the allure of the pageants had lost its luster. As a matter of fact, I probably wouldn't even be mentioning it myself if it wasn't for the fact that I just happened to stumble upon it while channel surfing. I found myself getting caught up in the finals of the pageant and when they crowned MISS OKLAHOMA as champion, I was giving the traditional "golf clap" to the TV set. Ironically enough, MISS OKLAHOMA was replacing last year's winner, who was also from the great state of OKLAHOMA. What are the chances of that happening? Was it coincidence or do I smell another scandal brewing? Is there something in the water out in the plains of the U.S. of A that is causing the corn to bring out the best in the women of that fair state? Inquiring minds want to know. Stay tuned...
Two days left in January- two more days of NO-JUICE JANUARY. This is the first time all month that I am actually craving a cocktail. I can taste that Gentleman's now.... Bring it on, baby!
On Sunday, JON CUSACK dropped off Season 1 of HBO's "THE WIRE" for me to check out. I'd recently gotten into watching this series during Season 4 (which is very rare for me- if I don't catch a TV series from the beginning, I won't watch it), and as a result, I wanted to catch the first three seasons so that I could make more sense of the various characters that exist in this phenomenal series. CUSACK recommended that I watch it from the beginning, so with Season 1 in hand, I began watching it after work on Sunday night. There are 13 episodes in Season 1- after a day and a half, I am already up to episode 9 (each episode lasts about an hour). To say I'm completely hooked is an understatement. The praise I used to heap on "DEADWOOD" (another great series on HBO), I now do the same for "THE WIRE". Simply one of the best and realistic shows I've ever seen. Thanks to CUSACK for hooking me up.
For those of you who love Chinese food, think twice before ordering Chicken and Broccoli. Apparently a woman in Brooklyn, NY is suing a Chinese restaurant because she found what appeared to be a dead mouse coated in fried batter, in her order of chicken and broccoli. Now I know most of us New Yorkers always joke about what passes for "chicken" in those restaurants, but damn... I guess I've lost my taste for General Tso's .....
I know I've said this before, but is it me or is JILL NICOLINI of CW11 Morning News one hot traffic chick? Damn. She can give me directions to the corner bodega for all I care....
EPL Match of the day: Portsmouth vs Middlesbrough (2:30pm) $3.00 Bud/Bud Light and Coors Light (bring your lunch!)
DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS CONTINUES TONIGHT ($1.00 Bud/Bud Light mugs ALL NIGHT LONG)!
More updates later!

Fare thee well, Swanfather. As much as I broke your chops about your blog, I hope you know I'll miss it. Bravo for all the good work.
Your pal,
Mr. T.
I can't believe you never watched The Wire until now. I've been hollering at you about it for years. Better late than never I guess.

Yea Goldie, I'm disappointed in myself for going this long without peepin' it out. Love it though. Finished off Season 1, looking forward to Season 2.
Inquiring minds want to know: Will you be joining the Brew Crew for Super Bowl Sunday?
