Follow the daily interactions of an affable bar manager of pretty cool and not-so-typical watering hole in NYC, in a not-so-typical neighborhood, Murray Hill. There may be some blurbs overheard at the bar, stimulating observations and random thoughts on random things. So be careful, you never know what might end up here....Enjoy and welcome to my world!

DEBAUCHERY and CHAOS...all for a good cause.
On Thursday night, Third and Long hosted a fundraiser for Team in Training, an organization that supports its members in marathons/triathlons while raising money for various charities. One of the members of the group was a guest bartender, with the hopes of raising money for his upcoming race. The turnout for the cause was far better than even he had expected and as a result, the place was packed. Even though the guest bartender had limited experience behind the bar, his efforts earned him an A+ grade.
The crowd was boisterous and got into the event. Lots of people from the advertising industry. Lots of hot chicks which is always a good thing (in my book). Lots of loud cheers and joking around. Typical frat boy stuff. Unfortunately, in every situation, you find a few bad apples and last night was no exception. Late in the evening I caught a couple of knuckleheads from the advertising industry pilfering some Coronas from behind the bar. I confronted them on it and of course, they tried to play dumb, which pissed me off even more. I ended up blowing my stack and berated them in front of all of their colleagues and threw them out of the bar. Bastards. There's always someone out there out to fuck up a good thing.
Lesson to be learned: Never use a camera phone to take blog pics.
Aside from that, the evening was a bonafide success.
On a seperate note, it's strange how CNN's talking about 100 inches of snow pounding the Midwest, where on the other hand, here in NYC, we've only had 1 inch of snow to date. Who says we're not in the middle of global warming? Hmmmm....

Swanfather,
Don't you own a really nice, properly functioning, expensive camera that takes clear pictures?
Your pal,
Mr. T.
