FADE TO BLACK

I spent last night with a few friends at the bar to catch our friend MASTER THESPIAN in his TV debut (on ABC's "The Knights of Prosperity"); I was finally going to have my first cocktail in a month and knowing that today was going to be my last blog posting (on the Second Anniversary ironically enough), I was hoping to catch some juicy nuggets for the last post on "Girls Night Out" (the new name for "Ladies Night").

The good news was that there were plenty of chicks in and out of the bar throughout the night. As a strapping young male such as myself, that was nice to see.

For my first drink in over 30 days I was joined by H.B.E., NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, FREEJACK, REDSKINS GIRL, BABY GIRL and STIFFLER which was nice. First drink: Crown Royal and Ginger Ale (I was feeling Canadian last night). Let me tell you, it went down nice and smooth. The first one as well as the fifth one- nice and smooth.

Bad news: While we waited with baited breath to see our friend MASTER THESPIAN on TV, sadly enough, it turns out that he didn't make the final cut. Oh well, better luck next time, my friend. I can say one thing though: I definitely made the cut on tonight's episode of "30 ROCK" (9:30pm, NBC). So make sure you check out myself and MR. LOW-KEY. It's a hilarious episode.

And finally, as I mentioned previously, this will be my last "official" blog posting. The blog itself will still exist, to keep the faithful up to speed on various events and drink specials taking place at Third and Long. But the commentary and scoops that you've grown to enjoy (for the most part) over the last two years will no longer appear here. I've been bombarded with questions as to why I am giving up writing the blog. Some people wondered aloud if I was tired of writing it on a daily basis (no), some wondered if I was bored with it(no).

The fact of the matter is that while I enjoy writing the blog, I simply grew tired of always having to worry about what to post/not to post and getting flack for it (some of it justified, most of it not). And I said to myself once it gets to the point where I get stressed out over something I'm supposed to be enjoying, then that's when it ends. And when I got to that point, that's when I made the difficult decision to end this thing, as we know it.

So where do I go from here? Well, I will continue to write, only this time for my enjoyment. The bar will always continue to feed me with plenty of material to write about so I will continue to "draw from that well", so to speak. I do want to take this time to thank YOU, the readers for supporting this venture the past two years. If it wasn't for your continued support in reading this blog, this would be a moot point.

I also want to thank everyone who made an appearance in the blog in some form or another- If it wasn't for you, I would have nothing to write about on a daily basis.
