OPENING DAY, PART II

It's the beginning of a new week and once again, Opening Day is upon us. This time, it's the NEW YORK METS who get to celebrate their home opener, against the rival PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES. After a brilliant season which saw them miss the World Series by one inning, expectations are very high this year for Met fans. Nothing less than the World Series itself is the general thought this year. First pitch is at 1pm, and of course, we'll carry every pitch of the game.

So last night was the "premiere" if you will, of the "last" season of the Sopranos. What did you think? I thought it was actually okay. You got to see a Tony Soprano in a reflective, yet somewhat vulnerable state as he reflected on his past, while at the same time, contemplating the fate of his and his family's future. As usual, the montage of hints at the end of the episode has me coming up with all kinds of conspiracy theories and now I find myself hooked again, waiting to see what happens next. I was also somewhat impressed by Bobby Bacala, who is finally starting to grow a set of balls. We'll see what the future has in store for him....

Call me crazy, but I get the strange feeling that if anyone takes him out (Tony), it'll be Bobby. After what happened last night, Bobby has seen something that no one else has; (to say what it is will spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet); And Tony S. will push him one too many times and with Bobby's wacky wife, Janice whispering in his ear in that sinister way..... Call me crazy.

*And finally, a side note or a "parable" of sorts to a couple of friends: You don't have to like everyone that you come across. Just so as long as you respect each other, that's all that matters. There's no point in fighting over nothing. So get past the petty differences and move on. You only make yourselves look simple and we're not in high school anymore. Life's too short.

There, I've said my piece.
