S-W-E-E-P!!!
The NY RANGERS pleased area fans by completing a rare series sweep over the ATLANTA THRASHERS to become the first team in the Stanley Cup Playoffs to advance to the next round. Their domination of the Thrashers was particularly impressive as they played some of their best hockey in what seems like years. I have to say I was really surprised by their level of play and if they keep this up, they have a very legitimate shot of going all the way. Their reward for finishing so soon? Much needed rest and time to heal for the next round. Next opponent: TBD
In the meantime, America's Team (the Cleveland Indians) haven't had the best of luck this week in the Big Apple as the NY Yankees imposed their will on the Tribe, winning both games played thus far (bastards). No worries, it's a long season. Speaking of baseball, there's a COORS LIGHT baseball promo tonight, highlighting a "Home Run Derby"; What does it entail? Show up tonight and find out! Great prizes will be awarded and Coors Light specials o'plenty.
Last night was a pretty mellow night, as far as Wednesday nights go; mellow in a nice way as it was ironically enough, relaxing, in spite of all of the hoopla surrounding the playoffs. During the games, the bar was dominated by females, sitting around chatting and enjoying drinks. However, as soon as the game ended, the bar filled quickly with Rangers fans, donned in jerseys and amped up by the victory. An interesting contrast of moods. I finally got to see my Canadian Spark Plug ANIA last night as she stopped by again to say hi and to chastise me (in a good way) for not being around the night before. I also got to meet one of the blog's biggest supporters, KD from DETROIT. She was in town on business and finally got an opportunity to stop by the bar. I've chatted with her by email in the past so when I finally met her face-to-face, it was a natural fit, as if we knew each other for years. A charming and delightful woman. She's welcome to the bar anytime! It's always nice to meet people from the blog.
And finally, my favorite weathergirl, LINDA CHURCH is calling for GREAT weather this weekend, with temps hovering around 70 on Saturday as well as Sunday! This is long overdue as we are well into Spring and haven't had any springlike weather yet. Maybe this was mother nature's way of paying us back for the very mild winter we had.TONIGHT: "Lite Nite Thursdays" ($4.00, ALL LIGHT BEERS)
