THE MTA apparently feels that it's okay to keep the booze cars on its commuter trains.
The MTA thought about it, but now the agency says it will not eliminate popular "bar cars" on the Long Island Rail Road and Metro North.
The MTA formed a task force in December to look into the proposal and the committee found there was no risk in letting riders buy and drink alcohol on board.
The task force found there was no correlation between sale and consumption of alcohol on MTA facilities and DWI incidents in or around the railroad, and officials say it is not feasible to stop commuters from drinking before getting on board.
Riders can buy alcohol on the so-called bar cars or at carts just before the ride home from Penn Station or Grand Central.
