| Firefighters Rescue Woman in Bronx Apartment Fire Firefighters Edward Long and Brian Downey made their first rescue on April 30, saving an elderly woman from an apartment fire in the Bronx. The fire was first reported at 12:18 a.m. in the bedroom of an eighth-floor apartment of 1005 Jerome Avenue. Firefighter Long, assigned to Engine 69 and working in Ladder 49, and Firefighter Downey, assigned to Engine 68 and working in Ladder 49, entered the fire apartment with Lieutenant Michael Glander and encountered heavy smoke. They located the fire in the bedroom and held it back with a water can until members of Engine 68 arrived with a hose line. Firefighter Long crawled to the kitchen to find a woman slumped in a chair. He and Firefighter Downey carried her into the hallway and started CPR. The firefighters then carried her to the seventh floor, to escape the intense smoke, and firefighters from Engine 92 continued to do CPR on her until EMS arrived. She was transported to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition. Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire. | |

Will those firefighter come and resuce me if I started a fire at my house? I know I'm in Milwaukee but Those fire trucks hold a lot of gas so they could make it here. Milwaukee firefighter aren't as cute as the ones in NYC.
