CLOSE...BUT NO CIGAR

Yesterday, the NY Rangers succumbed to the Buffalo Sabres after a crushing 5-4 defeat that eliminated them from Stanley Cup contention. As a result of that loss, there are no longer any NY-area teams left in the chase for Lord Stanley's Cup. The Eastern Conference finals will pit the Buffalo Sabres against my team, the Ottawa Senators in what should be a great matchup between these bitter rivals; while in the Western Conference, the Anaheim Ducks await the winner of the San Jose/Detroit winner. This pretty much ensures that the Stanley Cup final will have two legitimate contenders vying for it, which makes for great viewing.

To the Rangers, (and the Devils for that matter); you shouldn't hang your heads low for you had great seasons. You did your fans proud and you can only get better in the future. Job well done.

I just want to again say it was one hell of a weekend; I'm still pooped from it but it was fun. No complaints from me.
