MEMORIAL DAY SUNDAY STROLL IN THE CITY

My original intentions for today was to take a train upstate to BEACON, NY to check out the DIA: Beacon Art Gallery. However, due to the late night we had, I didn't wake up until about 12 noon. And with the hour and a half train ride it takes to get to BEACON, it wouldn't have been worth it for me to trek all the way up there, just to turn back around.

So I decided to take a stroll over to the West Side and see what the tourists were doing. With the holiday weekend in full gear and Fleet Week sailors all over the place, I figured there would be plenty of good people-watching to be had in the Times Square vicinity. And sure enough, the tourists and sailors were in full sight-seeing mode. To add to the chaos, there was a street-fair taking place on Broadway, in Times Square itself. So if you wanted tourist clusterf***, you got it here.

Sure, I'll buy yet another trinket that I'll NEVER use....

The NHL is opening a store in NYC this fall. Hmmmm.. if they promote this thing like they do their own sport, they will be out of business by Christmas. "D'oh!"

Since I didn't get to catch the DIA Art Gallery today, this is the closest thing to getting my "culture on"....

So now that I was able to get my people-watching in for the day, I can now kick back and catch some NASCAR and chill out under the air conditioning. Hope that everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend! See ya when you get back!

BTW, for those of you wondering how Saturday night was in Murray Hill on a holiday weekend, well, let's just say that the B & T and tourist crowds ruled the night. Striped shirts and painfully bad shiny skirts ruled the night. Are you kidding me??? They must be from Ohio.
