What started out as a mellow night turned into one filled with tense moments, laughter and "celebrating" like there was no tomorrow. A fun night indeed.
The night started out with a minor emergency as I was faced with a scheduling dilemma. One of my bartenders who was scheduled to work informed me that she had a previous engagement and couldn't work; so that left me with the task of scrambling to find a replacement. After fruitless attempts to find someone from my staff list, I was lucky enough to be bailed out of my situation by none other than AMERICAN PSYCHO. Now he's worked for us a few times in the past as a fill-in, but it had been a while since his last stint. So to find him on short notice and available to fill-in turned out to be a blessing in disguise, since we ended up having a busy night.
Once I got the scheduling thing straightened out, it was down to business at hand. The bar was slow at first, probably due to the fact that what was at first a hot and sticky day, ended up into a nice, cool and breezy evening. And when you get that combination, the places with outdoor access like a patio or rooftop deck usually get the bulk of the hits. We didn't find ourselves busy until after the sun went down. Once that happened, it was like someone turned on a light switch because all of a sudden, the bar filled quickly and folks settled in to some great music, provided by a slew of staff IPOD's and what may have been the basketball game of the year, courtesy of the NBA and the combatants, CLEVELAND AND DETROIT.
Entering last night's pivotal Game 5, both teams were tied 2-2. With this game taking place in Detroit, it was of the utmost importance for either team to win Game 5. And not surprisingly, both teams gave it all they had and what resulted was a nail-biting, thrilling double-overtime victory by the Cleveland Cavaliers, affectionately known as "America's Team".While the game itself was one for the ages, the performance by LEBRON JAMES was one for the books. The young phenom basically took his team and placed them on his back as he willed his way to victory; scoring a team playoff record 48 points in the process. Whether it be a pivotal 3-point play, or a driving slam dunk at a critical point, KING JAMES was simply a human highlight reel. And with each unbelievable act he performed, the more people began to cheer for him and "America's Team". Simply unbelievable.
Game 6 takes place this Saturday and you bet your ass we'll be carrying the game live.
Meanwhile, while this great game was taking place, a group of people were having their own fun, taking advantage of the grooves playing on the IPOD and creating their own version of "DANCE FEVER", dancing all over the place. It was actually pretty entertaining.
Overall, aside from a brief battle of words between a couple of "prats", everyone had a pretty good time and the bar had a pretty good night.

I wouldn't go so far as saying the Cavaliers are "America's Team," but I'm sure there are a lot of fans rooting for James and Co. to beat the Pistons. You always hype up those Ohio teams. Doesn't matter, Spurs will roll over either of them.
B to the...
Don't be so sure about that, my cheese-loving, beer-drinking Midwestern boy. Milwaukee will be known for something good aside from Laverne and Shirley and brats someday. ;)
In the meantime, grab a seat cushion and take a ride on the Cleveland Cavaliers Bandwagon!
