Follow the daily interactions of an affable bar manager of pretty cool and not-so-typical watering hole in NYC, in a not-so-typical neighborhood, Murray Hill. There may be some blurbs overheard at the bar, stimulating observations and random thoughts on random things. So be careful, you never know what might end up here....Enjoy and welcome to my world!

THIRD AND LONG STAFF/PATRON REUNION, PART I...
Last night was the beginning of a week of gatherings to celebrate the past and to acknowledge the eventual closing of THIRD and LONG. I've been talking about our recent decision to close the bar (due to the end of our lease) over the last couple of weeks, preparing everyone for "that day". Now that we are less than a week away, reality is hitting home more and more as people continue to drop by to show their support and to pay their respects to a neighborhood institution. The last week alone has been simply overwhelming as I reconnect with faces that I haven't seen in years; Most I remember, some I do not. But it's good to see the faces anyway because with each face that stops by to share stories and to pay respects, the more I find respect for a place that often gets taken for granted as simply "a bar".
We're still awaiting word from the landlord whether or not they've approved our final proposal. That means that until we finally hear from them, we linger in limbo, and continue to plan for closing in the next few days. With each passing day, my hopes for a resolution dwindles. Here's hoping for some good news SOON!
They always say that a picture paints a thousand words. Well, here are several thousand words, painted by simple pictures. It was simply a wonderful night.
You gotta love girls rating guys as they walk by....
