8 DAYS AND COUNTING....

As we head into what appears to be the twilight of our existence, THIRD and LONG continues to be inundated with accolades from well-wishers and former patrons from near and far. For example, last night we were paid a visit from a great couple, former New Yorkers who happened to meet at Third and Long, many many years ago. You know the routine: You're there with your friends, they are there with their friends, the two you happen to meet and hit it off. In this case, however, the meeting resulted in casual dates, which eventually led to marriage. Years later and living in Atlanta, the happy couple still make it a point to stop by the bar for a cocktail or two and reminisce about the good times.

I can't tell you the number of times I've seen that scenario play out over the years. It's a shame that we won't see that play out any more as we wind down after 16 wonderful years.

CELEBRITY SPOTTING AT THIRD AND LONG

Yes, the bar was host to another celebrity spotting last night; this time it was local sports heartthrob, NY Met DAVID WRIGHT who stopped in with a couple of friends for a few post-game pops after a 8-1 victory over the MINNESOTA TWINS. The young hunky third baseman sent ladies hearts aflutter as he chilled out at the bar for about an hour or so. Good stuff. He must have heard that THIRD and LONG was a MET bar.

DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS continues tonight with $1.00 mugs of BUD/BUD LIGHT, all night long! After tonight there will only be two more Dollar Draft nights left so make sure you take advantage! Word has it that the RUNNING MAN will make a special appearance tonight behind the stick!

Catch you tonight!
