HEATWAVE OVER!!! (for now).
In less than 24 hours, we've gone from weather purgatory to beautiful breezes, and I gotta tell ya, I LOVE IT! There's nothing worse than a hot, humid New York City day. Something about the tall buildings and the concrete that makes the air feel like you are walking through a sweat tunnel. And the last few days were brutal, to say the least. Thankfully our AC unit held up to the task made the bar at the very least, bearable.
Speaking of weather, I've made some changes with the "Weather Babe"; Out goes LINDA CHURCH (who had a nice run, but as with all things, change is good) and in comes a newbie, HEIDI JONES from Channel 7 News. She's basically a younger model of what LINDA CHURCH used to be. While LINDA CHURCH was pretty reliable as far as the weather goes, the fact of the matter is that she's moving on to weekends, so this is as good a time as any to get some new blood in. So for now on, all of our weather-related references will be made via HEIDI JONES.
Last night started out well, with a promising Happy Hour, teeming with patrons taking advantage of the PBR special; As luck would have it, the torrential downpour that was predicted (by LINDA CHURCH, btw) came as everyone was getting out of work and that more or less killed the night for everyone. The crowds did pick up a bit later in the evening after the rains ended, but by then, it was too late. I expect that things will be better today as the weather is gorgeous.
I got an email from that lovely couple from Ireland I spoke about the other day; They are finally over the jet lag and have gotten settled back home. They were nice enough to send me a pic of the three of us in front of the bar.
Speaking of pictures, since we've grown to the point where people from all over the world are reading this little thing we call "our blog", how cool would it be if people from around the country and the world submitted pictures of themselves with "Third and Long" incorporated in it in some way, shape or form? I was talking with MATT LONG (aka MR. BIG) and we were chatting about the "Wall of Fame" that Imperial Pizza used to have. On that wall were pictures and postcards from patrons from all over the world. In many of those pictures, they had IMPERIAL PIZZA or the word IMPERIAL somehow incorporated in the pics.
Wouldn't it be cool if we did something similar where you, the reader submitted pics from wherever you might be, whether it be from your hometown, or a vacation spot; I would then post the pics on the blog (I could even set up a separate page just for pics) and it would be our own "Wall of Fame". Eff it! I'm going to do it. If you are interested in submitting pics for the "Wall of Fame", simply click onto my profile link (upper right corner of the blog) and email me the pics and i'll post them on the Wall of Fame page (look for the link in the "links" section). I think it would be cool to see how far we can take this!
Tell me what you think. Speaking of telling me what you think, after numerous requests, I will bring back the Anonymous Comments section. Use it wisely.
And finally, a few months back yours truly (along with DAPPER DAN and MR. LOW-KEY) made his TV debut on NBC's 30 Rock, in an episode simply called "Black Tie". It was a hilarious episode, featuring PAUL "Pee Wee Herman" REUBENS and ISABELLA ROSSALINI, just to name a few. I appeared in a few background shots but I have to say, I was pretty damn sexy in a tuxedo. If you didn't get to see that episode, it's set to re-air TONIGHT on NBC at 9pm. If you want to get a good laugh at my expense, check it out.
TONIGHT: "LITE-NITE THURSDAYS" with ALL light beers (bottles/drafts), $4.00, 4pm-10pm.
Hope to see everyone there!

anonymous comments make me feel randy, so watch out panty boy.
Heard a great comment about the weather curt "It was almost hot enough in July to make it smell like August in the city".

[Breathing heavily] Whew, anonmous comments are back! I didn't think I could possibly have gone another day without commenting on here. Daddy, you're the best! Oh, and I like the new weather chic. Not quite sure what you saw in Linda. My picture will be coming.
B to the...
Please don't put any of the pictures that I have sent you on your wall of fame. I will have to send you more suitable picture for general public viewing.
