WEEKEND WRAP-UP (pt 2)

Saturday was going to be a long day because I'd just had a late night and was walking into a double-shift. To make matters worse, the city was practically empty, it was hot as all hell and the only people who seemed to be around were either tourists or wackos. And just my luck, I'd get to see a bit of both.

On one end, there was a wacko who found himself enamored with the "Kick the Keg" special. Apparently an ex-singer/actor from the 60's with a really bad rug do; a poor man's Robert Goulet, radiant lounge lizard extraordinaire. This guy had a really annoying habit of jumping into everyone's conversations and putting in his two cents. That was when he wasn't taking a piss every ten minutes or belting out songs out of tune. Wanker.

On the other end, we got another visit from UCONN's head football coach, RANDY EDSALL and his lovely wife. He'd been in our bar a few times in the past, usually to attend the Big East tournament. This time out, he was in town for the weekend to attend a Broadway play and to spend time with his wife before the football season kicks in. He was pleasantly surprised when I remembered who he was. We exchanged pleasantries and then I left them to their business. A lovely couple indeed.

Saturday night started out much like Friday night did. It started out slowly and all of sudden, BAM! We were packed again. This time, no problems, no worries, everyone had a good time. A few birthday parties, a couple of bachelorettes here or there, a typical Saturday night in Murray Hill.

Sunday was spent working on side projects and such for most of the day. Whooooo.... Excitement personified. I have to say, however, that tonight's double-dip of ENTOURAGE and FLIGHT of the CONCHORDS were hysterical. When all else fails, you can always count on being entertained when those two shows air.

Tomorrow begins another week. Let's hope it's a good one; lord knows it's going to be a scorcher.
