HARD KNOCKS ON OPENING NIGHT

There were plenty of fireworks going off at the RCA Dome last night as the INDIANAPOLIS COLTS showed America why they are the Super Bowl champions, dismantling the NEW ORLEANS SAINTS, 41-10.

The game started out slowly, with both teams using most of the first quarter to feel each other out. However, as INDY began to click on all cylinders, the SAINTS simply couldn't answer the bell. By the end of the 3rd quarter, INDY had the game well under control and the bar began to clear out. That's the ultimate sign of a blowout- when the patrons begin to leave before the game ends.

Overall, the night was kinda weird. First off, it's been quiet this week (Post-Labor-Day Hangover); I get that. Thursdays have been pretty good this summer, however, the foot traffic usually doesn't come through until after sundown (that's just the pattern I've noticed over the past month or so).

So when I was approached by MALIBU RUM to set up a promotion, I had no problems with it. I did suggest to them that they should schedule their promo for later in the evening, to ensure that they had patrons to cater to. But of course, I'm dealing with professional promo-company people, they know what they are talking about. They insist that they start their promo at 7pm. I tried to interject that I kinda know about how our bar works and the foot traffic trends, yet they insisted so I said okay.

7pm comes and of course, I'm right. There's a handful of people milling about and the MALIBU RUM people. It was kinda an awkward moment. I didn't say "I told you so" to the person in charge, but I'm sure the look I had said enough. Eventually as we drew closer to game time, the bar began to fill up and the MALIBU people were able to do their thing. Like I said before, it was a weird night.

SATURDAY: "Kick the Keg" Saturdays (12pm-8pm), $2.00 mugs, ALL BEERS ON TAP ("'til the keg kicks!")!

College Football Game of the Night (sponsored by Bud Light), $3.00 Bud/ Bud Light pints, (8pm-11pm).

SUNDAY: "Fantasy Football Sundays", sponsored by Bud Light. $3.00 Bud/Bud Light Pints ALL DAY LONG!!

Just want to take this time to say that it's going to be a GREAT weekend for football fun and I am looking forward to having the SUNDAY BREW CREW back in the house for another year of good-natured fun!
