A GOOD NIGHT FOR A GUINNESS....

The bar was pretty busy last night; A nice buzz for a Thursday night. This was due to a number of factors. For starters, we hosted a "fund-raiser" of sorts. What I mean is that a guy from one of the big financial firms challenged the members of his work group to raise a certain amount of money by a certain time and if they did so, he would shave his head. Lo and behold, the group not only met his goal ($10,000), but they did it within a day and exceeded the original goal.

So after work today, you see a group of "suits" strolling into the bar, smiles on their faces and ready to check out what was going to take place next. The guy ended up having his head-shaving ceremony at our bar!

I have to say, the guy was pretty good natured about the whole thing (especially since he not only got his hair cut, he got "bicked", too!), and at the end of the day, it was for a good cause. I have to give the guy props for having the cojones to go through with something like this, even if it was for charity!

In the meantime, we had our GUINNESS Irish Lift taking place right around the same time as the YANKEES/INDIANS Game 1 clash. The patrons got a kick out of the GUINNESS girls and the free pints of GUINNESS and they didn't quite like so much what they saw in Game 1.

Cleveland (Also known once again as AMERICA's TEAM), jumped out to a lead after the Yankees started out the scoring with a lead-off HR. When the score was 4-1, Cleveland, I have to admit, I was beginning to feel a bit confident. I even waved my "Go Indians" bandanna a few times. However, when the Yanks began to mount a bit of a comeback, I have to admit, I was pretty nervous. Our city is known for bad luck in sports and who knows? It could have happened again.

In this case, however, it turned out to be a big day for the TRIBE as the Indians rebounded with an unheard-of 8 runs, while shutting the mighty Yankees down en route to a commanding 12-3 victory in Game 1. Let's just say that the fans of the pinstripers were not feeling me after the game. Oh well. There's always Game 2.

The rest of the evening went well, with plenty of GUINNESS being poured throughout the night. There were plenty of folks there to partake in the "Lift" as well as to check out the game. Only wish there was a better result for the local team. Of course, I'm torn. As a native Clevelander, I am very happy to see my Indians put a beatdown on the NY Yankees. At the same time, I know that having the Yankees go far in the playoffs is great for business. What's a man to do, what's a man to do????
