SAVING SOULS ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON...

Now they say that sometimes folks go to different places to feel redemption, to get themselves saved. Saved from what? It depends on the person. In some cases, they will go to a church or temple to save themselves from their sins. In other cases, they will come to Third and Long and get themselves saved from the monotony of home life. After working a long hard week and taking care of personal chores and such on Saturday, there's just one day left to unwind and have a laugh and that's Sunday afternoon.

So imagine our surprise when the SUNDAY BREW CREW were hanging out and doing the usual- pissing about and having a laugh when someone noticed a small crowd gathering out front. The windows were open and as I said before, no one noticed anything at first. It started out with just a couple of random folks standing outside, as if they were waiting on a friend or something. A few minutes later another person would show up... and then another. Next thing you know, there's a group of say, 10-15 people standing in a circle, chatting away. One of the patrons (who'd been outside smoking a cigarette) came inside and announced that there was some prayer meeting going on outside the bar and they were praying for the souls of the people in the bar. We thought he was kidding around, but sure enough, there was a group of people, chanting, praying and selling gospel CD's and pushing pamphlets to anyone who would listen. WTF?



I didn't have the heart to tell these folks that there ain't that much praying in the world to save the souls of some of the members of the BREW CREW...... And when NAPOLEON DYNAMITE approached them with a Playboy Magazine in hand, I think they realized that maybe they bit off more than they could chew.

Then there's AFRIKA BAMBATTA. Besides the fact that he's always busting my balls about one thing or another (case in point):

He's on a whole another trip when his alter-ego RICKEY HENDERSON comes out. The "Don-Juan" of the BREW CREW, there ain't a single woman he won't cozy up to. . . .

Who said "Pimpin' Ain't Easy?"

As usual, MR. AFRIKA BAMBATTA brings us plenty of laughs, so at the end of the day, what more can you ask for?

Yesterday as a whole wasn't as crazy as normal due to an unusually large number of teams on bye, as well as a few of the regulars being out of town; but dammit, I can say emphatically that we had one heck of a time. Thanks for the flyby, MAYOR OF MURRAY HILL, KING NATHAN, PHILLY FILLY, THE SPIN DOCTOR as well as MR. CHIPS, HORNY GOATWEED, AFRIKA BAMBATTA, T-BILL, NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, ANGRY BLACK, CY SPERLING, and the YELLOWHOOK GRILLE BOYS, just to name a few.

*DON'T FORGET- our first HALFTIME BUFFET takes place next Sunday. There are some great games on tap, leading up to PITTSBURGH vs DENVER at 8pm. Hope to have the full BREW CREW contingent there! And those who want to join the BREW CREW, simply show up and if we think you have what it takes to be a part of the CREW.... we'll let you know!

TONIGHT: CLEVELAND vs BOSTON (Game 3, A.L. Championship Series), 7pm. I'll be at the bar at 7pm sharp, watching "AMERICA's TEAM" and if you want to join me, I'll buy you a drink (as long as I know you're cheering for the right team!!!!!!) COLORADO will be looking to sweep ARIZONA at 10pm for a berth to the World Series.
