HOLDING SERVE IN GAME 1

RED SOX NATION was giddy in delight as they watched their team dismantle the Cleveland Indians, 10-3, on the strength of probable Cy Young winner, JOSH BECKETT. The pitching matchup between Beckett and the Indians' C.C. SABATHIA was supposed to be a marque one on paper; However, someone forgot to send "Big Country" the memo because his performance was less than memorable. He found himself in a hole early on and the Red Sox pounced on him and never let up. To put it candidly, it was ugly.

After the game, cynics were already proclaiming series victory for Boston and predicting that they would win the World Series as well. Let me just remind the faithful in both camps that it was only Game 1 and this is a seven-game series. Anything can happen and it's way premature to give out accolades after just one game. I tip my hat to BECKETT as he pitched one hell of a game. Indians' fans, no worries. We'll come back strong.

Game 2 tonight at 8pm.
