THE FALL CLASSIC and OTHER MUSINGS....

The World Series begins tonight with the BOSTON RED SOX hosting the unlikely N.L. Champs, the COLORADO ROCKIES. Not the matchup most people expected at the beginning of the season, but an intriguing one nevertheless.

The ROCKIES are riding a wave of momentum, and a monster win streak, sweeping the ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS in four straight, after beating the CUBS in four straight as well. The BOSTON RED SOX, had to claw their way back from a 3-1 deficit to win their way to the Fall Classic over the CLEVELAND INDIANS.

Should be an interesting series. Game 1 begins at 8pm.

Speaking of the RED SOX, it seems it has found itself a new supporter: RUDY GIULIANI. Yes, the same life-long NY YANKEES super fan has now declared himself a RED SOX fan, upsetting YANKEES loyalists in the process. In my opinion, it's an obvious ploy for votes in his bid to become the next President of the United States. However, I get the feeling that YANKEE fans will not take this lying down; They have a long memory and he will surely feel the heat every time he comes back to YANKEE Stadium. You can read the full story HERE.

So it's day 2 of CABLEGATE and as we speak, I am listening to NY1, one of the few channels I can get (off and on). TIME-WARNER won't see me before Friday (they are backed up) between 10am and 2pm; Of course, that means that my whole day is shot. Whenever you deal with Time-Warner and they give you a block of time to arrive, they will either come right away (say 10:01am) or at the very last minute (1:59pm), if at all. So I'm screwed for at least two more days without real cable.

Now some of you will say something like "Hey Swandad, this is your chance to get out and enjoy the fresh air!". That's all well and good, but with the weather maven HEIDI JONES predicting monsoon-like rain for the next two days, that option doesn't bode well either.

So that forces me to sit in the bar if I want to catch any TV (like the Champions League); As if I don't spend enough time there as it is. WTH????

I don't need this crap in my life. I need a vacation.

TONIGHT: HOCKEY NIGHT IN NY. The NHL season is well underway and we are one of the only places in Murray Hill that carries the NHL CENTER ICE package. That means every NHL game is at our fingertips and you get to benefit from it! With that comes $3.00 Molson Canadian drafts and $4.00 Coors Lights! And for the ladies, we still have the $3.00 Mixed Well Drinks for you!

Happy Birthday to SMURFETTE (sorry I missed your party- swing by the bar and pick up your birthday card) and a special Birthday wish to SASHA, my favorite Canadian sweetie!

Your TV's kinda small. Doesn't size matter?

Go out, get drunk, and pick up a nice 61". That's what I did. It's pretty painless if you're loaded.

The size of the TV doesn't quite matter if you can't get a signal, no?

And size only matters if you've been "short-changed" to begin with. ;)

In that case I'm surprised your TV doesn't have "little knobs" on it to change channels.
