THIRD AND LONG HOLIDAY PARTY HIGHLIGHTS

The 17th Annual Third and Long Holiday Party took place yesterday and while the inclement weather kept the numbers down a bit, those who were brave enough to deal with the elements of Mother Nature had themselves a pretty good time. For those who are out of the loop, the bar hosts a holiday party each year as a way to thank its patrons for another good year. The party usually consists of an open bar, great music, lots of reminiscing, definitely lots of laughs, and usually a hook-up (or two). And this year was no exception.

Some highlights include:

*HORNY GOATWEED bringing a cute blonde to the party. While she seemed to be a nice and pleasant young lady, the fact that she only stayed for about an hour led to speculation by AFRIKA BAMBATTA that Craigslist was somehow involved.

*Watching NAPOLEON DYNAMITE and the STEELER NATION have a collective meltdown as their team collapsed down the stretch vs the JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS; And to make matters worse, watching their rival (and AMERICA'S TEAM) win in blizzard-like conditions, 8-0 over BUFFALO to create a tie for the AFC NORTH with two games to go. Love it!

*Catching up with former employees of the bar. It's great to see people that worked with you in the past and to reminisce over the good times is always a treat.

*OPIE CUNNINGHAM. OPIE, OPIE, OPIE.... Our man gets the M.V.P.A. (Most Valuable Party Animial) award for scoring the coup of the night. Your stock has risen dramatically after last night. And your trip to the mailbox on Friday night is an instant Third and Long classic (long story short- how many people do you know can take an easy task as taking a letter to the corner mailbox and turn it into a bodega beatdown blocks away? Well, OPIE somehow managed to do just that).

*BABY GIRL and REDSKINS GIRL (a.k.a the Dynamic Duo) made their marks at the party as well, dancing, singing and getting everyone into the festive spirit.

*AFRIKA BAMBATTA making his presence felt as always, whether it be stirring up the pot for the JETS' fans in their game vs. NEW ENGLAND, or taking advantage of the droopy mistletoe hanging from the ceiling, this guy is simply nuts.... and a pleasure to hang around with.

*Getting an unexpected Christmas gift from of all people, TURBO. Thanks for the great bottle of wine!

*My barback getting loads of attention from the ladies of the bar. Amusing since the kid is literally a babe in the woods and the cougars in the crowd were all over him like fallen prey.

*All told, after a slow start, it turned into a good time. I'm pretty tired today (wonder why?) and will probably take it easy after running some errands (the show must go on). I want to thank everyone who braved the elements for stopping by; And those who couldn't make it, you were sorely missed.
