BLOGGING AT THE BAR.... A PAIN IN THE ARSE.

I met up with a few of the regulars on Sunday afternoon for some NASCAR fun, leading up to the Oscars telecast. I decided to bring the laptop with me so that we could keep track of the drivers in the race, and so that I can keep up with my BIG BROTHER 9 updates online. Sounded like a good plan at the time.

Of course, when it comes to me and best laid plans, they never quite match. For starters, the race was on numerous rain delays, so we really didn't get to watch too much of a race. So while the drivers sat around waiting for the clouds to move on, this left us with not much to do but to bullshit and abuse me. This was especially true in that I wasn't bartending (THAT DAY BARTENDER GUY was), so that left me wide open for Brew Crew pot-shots. For example, whenever I'd step away from the laptop, some jackass would upload a porn website, and put my screen in the window, in full view of everyone walking by. While stuff like that makes me cringe, it was still funny nevertheless.

About ten of us took part in an Oscar pool in which we had to predict the winners of various categories. As of 11:10pm, we still had some of the major categories leftover and it's neck and neck for the pot($100.00), myself included. Keep the fingers crossed, folks!

The weekend in general was a good one for the bar; The mini-blizzard didn't keep people away on Friday as we found ourselves pretty busy, even without a barback.

Saturday was fun for me as I had to wake up very early in the morning to meet with some guys who were going to repair our speaker system. Now you can actually hear the TV's and vocals to songs. The afternoon was highlighted by a 30th birthday party in the afternoon, complete with beer pong and pastries from Magnolia Bakery. Saturday night was just as busy as Friday, highlighted by a thrilling college basketball game between Memphis and the Univ. of Tennessee.


Overall, a pretty good time considering it was a slow winter weekend.
