That's the current temperature as I write today's blog entry. Are you shitting me? A week ago we were basking in 60 degree weather and now we find ourselves locked in the midst of a winter freezedown that's so biting cold, it reminds me of my last girlfriend. Last night was even worse, with the gusty winds the temps fell below zero degrees, making it easily the coldest night of the year.
And from what my personal weather girl HEIDI JONES tells me, we're actually expecting some snow this afternoon! It looks like we're finally getting some winter weather for a change, folks.
Last night's DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS resembled a United Nations meeting as a swarm of international students convened at the bar for some "after-school English tutorials". While it's always nice to see a large group enjoying dollar drafts (even if it's under the guise of studying), it kinda sucks when you are their bartender. As mostly international students, most of them haven't mastered the art of tipping, the American way. Great for the bar, not so great for the beer servers. The night itself was a success, however, even with the brutally chilly temps. Hopefully we'll have more of the same tonight.
As for me, I'm starting to feel better; not 100% , but better than before. Hopefully the Flu Bug is making an exit once and for all.
Today is errand day as I have to take care of things for the bar; We have an "Anti-Valentine's Day" party to plan for. I mean, seriously, why should couples have all the fun on Valentine's Day? With the "Anti-Valentine's Day "party, we'll have drink specials, special games and a few surprises to help take your mind off of that ridiculous, commercialized lovefest hammered over our heads by companies like Hallmark, Godiva and Moet. F*** Valentine's Day I say. And if someone has an "Anti-Valentine's Day" hook-up along the way, even better! Giddy-up! Power to the singles!
One of our avid blog readers, KAT is making a return visit to the Big Apple this week and chances are good that she may swing by the bar and say hi! She loves the place and the regulars that she met along the way, so if anyone's around and happen to see her, don't hesitate to say what's up!
