WEEKEND HAPPENINGS

Last night was one of those laid back Thursdays where the crowd was steady, yet unspectacular. The Miller Lite Buckets (5 for $15.00) were going at a steady clip, which was cool to see. Folks seem to like their Miller Lites. We also had a more than a few guys in for hockey and college basketball, which is par for the course this time of year as both sports are gearing up for playoff/championship runs.

FRENCHY was bartending last night and of course, he always has an interesting take on things. His number one complaint for the night? Hot chicks with hot breath. What's up with that? I guess that would rub me the wrong way too.

I had some surprise visitors to the bar last night. First surprise guest making a surprise weeknight fly-by was AFRIKA BAMBATTA, who popped in after work. Usually when BAMBATTA makes a weeknight visit, chances are he's creepin' to or from a rendezvous. Do your thing, playboy!

A few minutes after BAMBATTA left, we got a surprise visit from GOLDIE, one of the original SUNDAY BREW CREW members. In town on business, he popped in for a few and we got to catch up on things in both of our lives. It was great to see him. One of my favorite people, bar none.

We also had visits from WINNIE COOPER, THE ENERGIZER BUNNY and her man, STEADY EDDIE, and the RED BULL CREW, who popped in for a few after a night of promotions around the city. I even got to experience another late-night fly-by from TURBO (that's twice in one week), who popped in for a nightcap on his way home from work. Throughout the night, I was "blessed" with the company of HORNY GOATWEED, who was resigned to hanging out at the bar, since he'd just moved into a new place and the cable tv wasn't hooked up yet. (I know that feeling).

Jenga also was a popular option last night as there were simultaneous games taking place at the same time. I'm amazed that this simple game could be so popular with the patrons. I'm looking to pick up a backgammon game in the very near future for the bar (for the more intellectual set, ha ha ha), just to mix things up a bit.

Overall, while not the busiest night of the week, a fun one nevertheless.
