Our "PROFESSOR" Makes the NY Times!

From time to time I'll write about the old guy who comes by our bar every day to sell us newspapers at half price. And more often than not, patrons will ask me what the deal is with "that guy". When I tell them that he's PROFESSOR IRWIN COREY and that he was a famous actor/comedian back in the 60's and 70's, some of the older patrons can't believe it, while the younger patrons usually haven't a clue.

He's been a staple of the neighborhood for years, living in one of the quaint carriage houses in SNIFFEN COURT, on East 36th Street. From time to time, he still acts in movies or on the occasional TV show, but more often than not these days you'll find him shuffling up and down 3rd Avenue, selling papers and donating his proceeds towards medicine for children in third-world countries. Along with a paper, you'll get a recycled joke or two from him, always with a smile.

The NY Times put out a nice article about him in today's edition. You read more about the 93 year old feisty comedian HERE .

Enjoy!
