GUESS WHO STRIKES AGAIN?
Last night was one of those uneventful nights nothing much was going on. Foot traffic was light (though construction traffic was pretty heavy.... and annoying), which meant that the whole block was pretty quiet. That didn't keep me from witnessing some interesting things. For example:
*The strange looking guy with a tattered briefcase and a brown bag with a "tall-boy" in it. This guy for some reason, kept walking around the block and passing the bar, like clockwork. The first time we saw him, we figured no big deal. Just a strange looking guy with a beer. Then he came by again. And again. And again. We became amused by this and began speculating on what his deal was. Leave it to "BOBBY DEWARS" to assume that he was an undercover cop, working on a case. He began to yell out, "Hey Cop! You undercover?", much to our amusement. I think he may have had one too many Dewars. Bless his heart.
*A certain well-known Lothario of the bar tried to put the full-court press on a poor, innocent girl from Cleveland, Ohio, who was at the bar to watch America's Team, the Cleveland Indians play on TV. She was a nice young lady, fairly new to the Big Apple, and simply wanted to see her team play (any woman who comes in and asks to watch the Cleveland Indians is a winner in my book, by the way). But of course, our resident "stud" was drawn to her like a moth to a flame and next thing you know, he's a new-found Indians fan (gotta give him an "A" for effort).
So he's hanging out with her for quite awhile and at one point I'm starting to wonder if she's really buying into his mojo. Alas, our Lothario finally packs it in and leaves. Another guy who happened to be sitting nearby buys her a drink and says simply: "here's a beer for you. Anyone who could survive that deserves a beer". Funny stuff.
*We tried out a new bartender last night; her name is Giselle and she's a cute brunette from North Carolina. I have to say, she was pretty good behind the bar- though she does have a rather interesting tattoo behind her neck that's a good conversation starter. Look for her behind the stick again in the near future.
Along with the Yankees vs Toronto tonight, we have a pivotal hockey matchup featuring the RANGERS and the rival ISLANDERS. Stay tuned.
"LITE NITE THURSDAYS" (4pm-10pm) are back with all LIGHT beers (bottles/drafts) at $4.00 each! We're also featuring $3.00 Magner's Cider (on tap). You can also take advantage of our Miller Lite special, featuring a "Bucket of Lites" (5/$15.00). This special went so well last week that we actually ran out of them! So swing by early and take advantage of this great deal!
AND FINALLY......
Not sure if you noticed our header above, but I will now incorporate bar photos in the header. A different picture each day. So look out: you might be the featured pic of the day!
