DREADED T-DAY

Today is the day that most Americans dread: TAX DAY. We plan for it all the time; we tell ourselves that we're going to get everything together and take care of it early, yet every year we find ourselves holding off until the very last minute before taking care of Uncle Sam (I'm guilty of it too). For some of us, TAX DAY brings us unexpected great news: a financial windfall that will give us the luxury to take a unplanned vacation or to buy that flat-screen TV that we always wanted; On the other hand, TAX DAY brings us the worst news that anyone wants to hear: YOU OWE- PAY UP. I think that's where most of the stress comes in; wondering whether or not you'll have to pay Uncle Sam.

I used to get crazy about TAX DAY. Then I realized that at the end of the day, it's simply another day. If you owe, then big deal, you owe. It's not the end of the world. And if by chance you find yourself getting something back, then that's gravy. But it's not worth stressing yourself over. So simply take your time today, get your paperwork together and get it done (if you haven't done so already). If you know that it's going to be close or you don't think you'll get it done on time, just file for an extension. But don't drive yourself crazy over it. It's not worth your health or frame of mind. Trust me.

Yesterday I received some sad news: One of our popular bartenders, F.I.T. Girl (shown here with STIFFIE), informed me that last night was going to be her last shift at Third and Long. She was presented with some new opportunities that would have conflicted with her schedule here, so she was going to take advantage of the new gig. She felt bad about leaving us and we feel the same way, but we both recognized that this was going to be a good move her. We appreciate all that she did for us during her time here and she will be missed. Thanks for the memories!

Last night was another great turnout, largely in part due to our newfound hockey fans. We televised (with sound) the OTTAWA/PITTSBURGH game and it was a great game..... if you were a PITTSBURGH fan. After the game, many of the patrons stayed on for the COLORADO/MINNESOTA game and enjoyed Dollar Draft Mugs well into the night. It was probably one of the latest Monday nights in quite a while, but it was pretty obvious that folks were having a good time. Love to see them at work today....
