This past weekend found the Big Apple baking in an intense heatwave, with temps soaring way past 90 degrees each day. If you've ever experienced a heatwave in New York City, you know that it isn't the most comfortable situation to be in. Stifling heat, brutal humidity and the concrete streets and multiple buildings seem to seal the heat so that as soon as you walk outside, you feel as if you've been slapped with a blanket of heat and humidity. It was so bad that I found myself dripping in sweat after walking one city block. Ugh.
Aside from the first major heatwave of the season, the weekend went well. The bar had busy nights all weekend, with plenty of humorous moments, hot chicks and good clean fun. What more could you want?
As for our funny "Fab Four" (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, DIRTY SANCHEZ, SILENT BOB and THE MAYOR OF MURRAY HILL), their stint as characters of "The Wizard of Oz" seem to have gone over very well as photos of the crew at Saturday's Belmont Stakes were found all over the newspapers and the Internet. When they finally made it back to the bar after a long, hot day at the races, they were definitely worse for the wear, with only SILENT BOB and THE MAYOR still holding strong with their original costumes. As far as sobriety levels go, that's another story. I would probably have to rate THE MAYOR and DIRTY SANCHEZ as the most coherent and SILENT BOB as the most plastered (shocking). That being said, I was impressed that the group made it back to Murray Hill in one piece.
