WHO'DA THUNK IT?Anheuser-Busch, the official home of "America's Brew", BUDWEISER and BUD LIGHT, and one of the classic symbols of American culture as we know it, has been SOLD. A deal was closed over the weekend that has the American beer giant turning its assets over to Belgium-based InBev Brewing Company. This deal gives InBev controlling rights to the company, and makes them the LARGEST beer company in the world. You can read more about the merger HERE.
Reaction about the merger has been swift; InBev has been known for its cost-cutting measures, once it acquires a property, including plant closures and job elimination. With the economy being what it is recently, that doesn't bode well for current employees of Anheuser-Busch. Although they (InBev) promised no job eliminations, AB employees better look over their shoulders and get a plan-B in place nevertheless.
New colors of Budweiser? What will the final fallout be? Loss of jobs? Higher beer prices? No one really knows at this point. Stay tuned.
