TODAY IS THE BIG DAY!

After months of pleas, cheerleading, coaxing, etc; All of those long, hard days of campaigning by you, the faithful blog readers has led to this: Today is the day that AOL.com is supposed to announce the winners of the 2008 City's Best Awards for NYC. We (for some bizarre reason) were nominated for Best Sports Bar, along with larger, more established venues like ESPN ZONE, 40/40 Club, Professor Thom's and it was put to a vote by the citizens of NYC.

At first I thought it was a joke but as soon as I realized it was indeed legit, I figured, "Let's have some fun with this". So then came the "David vs Goliath" campaign. And it took off from there. Dedicated readers such as yourselves jumped on the bandwagon and began voting everyday; We took a huge lead at the beginning, and in the process, woke up the sleeping giant, known as ESPN ZONE.

ESPN ZONE (to their credit), mounted a fierce comeback and made the campaign pretty interesting. We kept going back and forth with the lead and aside from a slight push from 40/40 Club in the final weeks, it was basically a two-horse race. At the end of the day, however, the last figure I saw before the voting ended was us ahead of ESPN ZONE, 37% to 33%. However, that wasn't official- we now had to wait for the official tally of the votes from the "powers that be"... with the announcement of the winner scheduled for TODAY.

So... who won? We'll find out soon enough. I will say this: If we do pull out a victory, look for a victory party next Wednesday night! Stay tuned......
