FLORIDA vs OKLAHOMA= ALL THE MARBLES.

So, after a long, drawn out college football season, it's come down to one game. The BCS National Championship game pitting the Florida Gators against the Oklahoma Sooners (can anyone tell me what a "Sooner" is?). #2 vs #1. The biggest game of the season.

Realistically speaking, aside from fans of both of these schools, does anyone really care who wins this game? Because quite frankly, Mr. Shankley, the winner of this game (in my mind) shouldn't really be called the "National Champion". As far as I can see, there's at least ONE other team that could/should rightfully lay claim to the title: The UTAH UTES. They finished their season undefeated(the only undefeated team left I might add) and thoroughly beat a highly-ranked Alabama team in the process. By rights they should be considered for the title. But that's just me talking. It is what it is.

The big game is tonight and I'm pretty sure that there will be a lot of folks that will be into it. So we'll be ready for it. Your thoughts on who wins? Post your predictions here!

LAST NIGHT's edition of Pub Trivia was a great success after a short holiday layoff. The competition was spirited and plenty of nice eye candy to boot. We crowned a new champion, though I can't tell you the team's name to save my life (I'll get that later) and they were pretty happy to drink out of the "Trivia Cup". God bless 'em. They'll be back to defend their title next Wednesday night. If you and your friends think you have what it takes to knock them off, then make sure you're there next week and roll the dice! You never know.....

AND FINALLY: We bid a fond farewell to one of our staff favorites, as OPIE CUNNINGHAM works his last day today at Third and Long. He's fulfilling a lifelong dream by moving to Australia. He was well liked by both patrons and staff alike and his wit and charm was part of his trademark. We're not sure how long he will be away from us but we'll always keep a warm barstool waiting for him whenever he decides to return.

Stop by today if you are in the neighborhood to wish him well. He'd love to say goodbye to you. And from all of us here at Third and Long, good luck in your future travels!

TONIGHT: Bucket O'Lights Night (Buckets of Coors Light, Michelob Light and Miller Lite, 5/$15.00), 5-10pm.
