However, here's where it gets weird. The first day of the tournament (which features four games) apparently WILL NOT be televised. No TV coverage at all. WTF??? According to NEWSDAY, ESPN (the network that's contracted to carry the tournament) wasn't obligated to carry the first day of the tournament when the BIG EAST switched to its current 16 team format.
Really?
The biggest and most competitive college basketball conference playing in the "MECCA" of college basketball, Madison Square Garden, doesn't televise all of the games? Especially in light of the fact that tickets for the games weren't even released for sale to the general public? Who made that decision? Real smart guys.
