BON VOYAGE!

Last night turned out to be the night for saying goodbye as we had at least two farewell parties taking place at the bar. One of the shindigs involved one of our newer regulars, a fiery redhead from Louisiana who likes to dance a lot and has a small appreciation for country music. The one thing I notice about farewell parties is that you can tell how popular someone is by the number of people who show up at these things. If that is the case, then our dear friend Jen is pretty well liked because she had waves of friends and co-workers streaming in and out of the bar to say their goodbyes all night long. It was actually pretty cool to see. So for that alone, it was worth the torture of listening to hours of country music.

And what do you say about the guy who shows up to a bar drunk and immediately becomes "That Guy"?. The one that tries to talk to girls but can't get a sentence out? The one who tries to jump in a country line dance and looks like an idiot in doing so? The guy who repeats the same lame story over and over? The guy who insists in showing you pictures of Citi Field on his cell phone over and over again?

In most cases, you toss the guy out and call it a day. What do you do, however, if the guy is a friend and former employee? It's a pain in the ass scenario to be in, I assure you. In this case, I'm not sure how it happened but it somehow worked itself out as "That Guy" ended up being led out by the hand by some chick whom he had been hitting on all night. Yeah, the same one who's name he kept forgetting all night long.

So in spite of that, everyone seemed to have a good time and our friend Jen was sent off with plenty of well wishes. Farewell, Jen, you will be missed.
