AND...... WE'RE BACK!
After a long (and somewhat surreal) weekend in the Windy City, yours truly is back in New York and ready to jump back into his work. It was a wonderful spending time with family and to explore the capital of the Midwest; If I only had more time to really take it all in. You see, I was supposed to leave New York early Friday afternoon (lunchtime), which would have given me most of Friday and all of Saturday to take in Chicago and all it had to offer. However, Mother Nature had other plans for me.
It seems that a wicked rainstorm took over Chicago and caused O'Hare International Airport to shut down. So what should have been a routine two hour flight from Newark turned into a six hour delay from hell. One in which we spent practically all of it (aside from a brief 15 minute respite) sitting on a plane. It was torture. So by the time we finally left and made it to the Windy City, it was about 7pm Chicago time (8pm here). To make matters worse, as soon as I get my luggage and make my way to the subway that would get me to my hotel, it begins pouring rain again. Ridiculous. I finally get to my hotel, soaking wet, sweaty, tired... let's just say that I was not a happy person.
In the meantime, my brother was driving to Chicago from Cleveland and he didn't get there until after midnight. So we basically lost a full day due to the weather. So we crammed all we could into Saturday, which included a Cubs game, lots of drinking, sight-seeing and running around, and capping it off with another viewing of "The Hangover" (it was hot as balls there and we needed a place to cool off and he hadn't seen the movie yet). So overall, while it wasn't the most ideal trip, it was fun nevertheless. And now I'm back and ready for another week at the salt mines.
The U.S. Open continues today in the quest that there will finally be a finish and we'll carry live coverage of it here. It's also "Game Night Monday" featuring "Beer Bingo", tonight at 8pm. $1.00 Bud/Bud Light/Coors Light mugs OR all other domestic mugs (Blue Moon, Sam Adams, Sam Summer Ale, Sixpoint Sweet Action, Molson Canadian or Brooklyn Pennant Ale) all night long (beginning at 4pm)!
You can catch me behind the stick today and I can fill you in on more details of my trip then.

Dat's why I hate flying. Two hours on a plane, sure, but when you're sitting there for six and you only expected two...
I wouldn't have made it out of there without cuffs on. If I could open up a window and hang my head out it while sitting on the runnway I would at least have a fighting chance.
